Our Programs

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso

01. Jasiri

This is an artistic self-confidence fun program that seeks to cultivate the inner energy of realizing the power in oneself to face the world without fear.

We are all of different personalities; introverted and extroverted, we are in different social settings and environments that to a larger extent affects how we act in line of confidence out there.

Thus, Jasiri was incepted to promote a young generation (5-17 years) who are confident & more self-aware.

02. Kulomba

Kulomba is a luhya dialect which means to make. Nkwaniliza seeks to enlighten young minds in Kakamega County with art and craft skills. Each DIY piece will be carefully crafted from recycled and upcycled materials, promoting environmental awareness as well as being an income-generating activity.

These items will be exhibited for sales by the young minds themselves as an avenue to reducing dependency syndrome through art revenues while also inculcating life skills to our program target.

03. Tulizo

Tulizo emanates from a Swahili word ‘tulia’ which means relax. This program is open to any age group ( youthful to older individuals) who yearn for a relaxed but engaging fun-filled moment

From recent research, actively taking time to create artistic pieces allows one to be more present with an activated relaxed-reflective state of mind, focused kind of attention, and pleasure from the joy of creating your pieces.

We creatively strive to assist anyone reduce anxiety, overthinking, or stress of things one isn’t in control of thus being in a relaxed space to process emotions and imagine a more hopeful future

Our Approach

The way we run our program is based on the followings approaches

Edutainment approach

As we train our respective target audiences, we incorporate fun ways of learning through diverse art mediums. Art training is executed in an approach that the respective audience will enjoy while doing the art and crafts as it is always therapeutic in matters of reducing stress and anxiety hence promoting mental health.

Participatory approach

We allow the target audience to think creatively and craft their own handmade items. We offer general guidelines on materials and equipment usage with minimal assistance where necessary. This promotes progress and not perfection as there is no mistake in art. Participation in this sense also promotes ownership as the target audience feels they have a say on whatever they have artistically created.

Art for social change

Encouraging artists to communicate through the art pieces made tool to disseminate messages which will promote personal development, disability inclusion in our communities and environmental sustainability through upcycling and recycling waste into art pieces (for instance use of old DVDs, tissue rolls, yogurt cups, wine bottles, bottle tops, shoe boxes).

Art-based community development

Intertwining artistic and community goals, seeking shared social benefits that range from building group identity and civic engagement to advancing human rights and social justice.
